Medify Air Purifiers That Can Remove Mold

All Medify air purifiers are fitted with H13 HEPA filters that are effective at removing mold and mold spores. The mold infestation will still need to be physically removed by cleaning the surface as the purifier can only remove the airborne mold and spores.

While all air purifiers are excellent for dust removal only some brands, like Medify Air, can actually remove mold.

Keep reading for the different types of Medify Air Purifiers available that can remove mold, and even the types of mold that you can find in your home.

Types of mold in our home

Mold is a huge problem faced by everyone in every home. It usually grows in areas with moisture, like showers, around windows and leaking roofs or pipes. But it can also be found on cardboard, paper and wood products, carpets, paints, drywall, and fabric.

Here are the typical types of mold you can find in your home.

Common mold found around our home whose spores can be removed by Medify air purifiers, including Cladosporium, aspergillus, Alternaria, Stachybotrys, Chaetomium, Acremonium and Fusarium.
  • Chaetomium – this mold typically grows on walls, although it also appears in vents or ducts. It mostly appears to resemble a brown cotton substance. However, it does change in color over time.
  • Aspergillus – this is a complicated one to identify. It appears in many colors, e.g., green, yellow, and white. Aspergillus has 185 different sub-species with 22 of them known to cause illness.
  • Fusarium – grows in areas with water damage especially on walls. Also common in humidifiers and plants. The mold can produce toxins and it’s color ranges from white to yellow, brown, and pink.
  • Acremonium – this mold commonly grows in damp and wet areas. The species produce mycotoxins associated with some human and animal disease.
  • Cladosporium – it’s the most common mold found in living and dead plants (both indoors and outdoors). The mold species have olive-green to brown or black colonies.
  • Stachybotrys – Stachybotrys grows well on paper and wood products, and cardboard. It’s typically known as “black mold” and takes days or weeks to fully grow under extremely damp conditions.
  • Alternaria – this is a green or brown mold with a velvety texture. It grows in moist areas like vents or ducts. It’s also found in bathrooms and damp windows.

Mold exposure can cause some health issues. People sensitive to mold can experience a stuffy nose, red and itchy eyes, coughing, and wheezing.

You need to clean your Medify air purifier unit regularly to make sure mold doesn’t begin to grow inside. This can be done using a soft cloth and a vacuum.

Never use cleaning chemicals or detergents on the purifier.

To clean the HEPA filter, follow these steps:

  1. Unplug your air purifier from the power source
  2. Remove the H13 True HEPA filter
  3. Thoroughly Vacuum the white side of the filter with a brush attached to your vacuum cleaner
  4. After properly cleaning the filter, place it back to the air purifier unit
  5. Plug your purifier to a regular AC power outlet

Tip:

Medify Air’s original filters last 3-4 months. We recommended replacing the filter after every 3,000 hours of use for effectiveness.
