  • Once you remove the filter, use scissors to cut the plastic bag from around the filter, being careful not to damage it with the scissors.
  • Return the filter to the air purifier. Ensure it clicks in place to be sure it is properly installed, and close its cover.

To unwrap Alen models T500 and T300:

  • Remove it from its box.
  • Turn the Alen air purifier and remove the back cover by pulling it off. These models have two filters, remove each of them.
  • Start by removing the pre-installed combination carbon filter and then the HEPA filter to remove the plastic cover bags covering them.
  • Re-install the filters, close the back cover and ensure it clicks into place to be properly installed.

STEP TWO: Placement.

Like any other equipment, Alen air purifiers require a precise position to perform properly.

Place the air purifier next to a power outlet, and away from any soft or shaky surfaces, such as a bed or sofa.

Set it back a few inches from the wall, away from any appliances or furniture.

Use a level surface at least 6 inches from heat sources such as ranges, dryers, or heaters and do not block its air vent openings.

Note: Do not use near a source of heat, such as a stove, heater, or dryer, do not use it near a source of water, such as a sink, bath, shower, or swimming pool and on no account should you use the Alen air purifier outdoors.

STEP THREE: Connect your Alen air purifier to a power source.

When you have a good location to place your Alen air purifier, connect it to a power source using a grounded outlet. Alen air purifiers come with a power adapter that connects the appliance to a power outlet.

  • Before you turn the Alen air purifier on, remove the power cord adapter from the safety lock box.
  • Plug the back part on the back of your Alen air purifier and make sure it is lined up correctly.
  • Remove the safety cap attached to the power cord adapter before plugging it into the socket.
  • Turn on the power.

STEP FOUR: Turn on your air purifier.

After connecting your Alen air purifier to the power source, you can now turn it on.

When the power switch is turned on, the Alen air purifier will beep to indicate power is being supplied properly.

Locate the power button/switch on the control panel and press it once to turn the unit on. The power button is always located at the center of the machine on the control panel.

There are two signs that immediately confirm if the Alen air purifier has turned on and started working:

  • All the lights on the control panel will turn on.
  • You will also hear a beep sound.

To turn off your Alen air purifier, press the power button. The display lighting can also be controlled with the LIGHT button on most models, for others press the power button one more time to turn off the display lights.

Note: All Alen air purifiers have a touchscreen touch panel. Only a brief, light touch is required to operate the buttons. Holding the buttons down will not correctly activate the controls. When you touch the button, the control registers your touch and you will hear a chime sound.

STEP FIVE: Check the air quality.

Alen air purifiers have a special feature that enables you to know the air quality of your home. The color ring around the power button will represent the air quality as determined by the particle sensor, when the air purifier is turned on.

  • The blue light indicates that very few airborne particles have been detected.
  • The green light indicates that there are only a few airborne particles present.
  • The orange light indicates a medium level of airborne particles has been detected.
  • The red light indicates that a significant amount of airborne particles has been identified.
  • The purple light indicates a very significant level of airborne particles detected.

STEP SIX: Setting the ionizer.

Alen air purifiers have an ionizer. By electrically charging air molecules, an air ionizer purifies the air in a room. Ionizers remove particles, microorganisms, and odors from the air by using ions.

To use the ozone-safe ionizer, press the IONIZER button. The ionizer’s activation improves your unit’s ability to remove airborne pollutants. To switch off the ionizer, press the ionizer button one more time.

STEP SEVEN: Checking and setting up the speed.

Alen air purifiers have fans that pull air to the intake section of the device.

The air is then blasted through a succession of replacement filters, trapping contaminants. The air is reintroduced into the room once it has been cleansed.

All Alen air purifiers allow you to select the fan speed. The fan speed can be modified depending on the quality of the interior air.

If the air quality of your home is low, you will need a high fan speed to capture all the contaminants. On the other hand, if the air quality of your home is not that bad, a lower fan speed will help remove the available contaminants in the air.

The majority of Alen Air purifiers have three fan speeds: Low, medium and high.

  • Press SPEED to select one of three fan speeds; low, medium, and high-speed modes. The light bars will display the selected speed.
  • The Alen 375 has 5 indicator cleaning speeds; speeds 1,2,3,4 and auto. 1 is the quietest, 2 is basic cleaning power, 3 is moderate, 4 is maximum and finally Auto which is triggered with the level of dirt, dust and smell.

To put the machine in automatic mode, press AUTO. Automatic Mode will regulate the unit’s speed based on the amount of particles present in the air using SmartSensor Technology.

STEP EIGHT: Setting the Timer.

Alen air purifiers also have a timer setting. The timer settings ensure that your Alen runs for a specified amount of time.

On the control panel, there is a “TIMER” button that you must push to set the turn-off and turn-on timers.

To have the air purifier switch off after a certain number of hours, press TIMER. It has two, four and 8 hours options and could take up to twelve hours depending on your settings. Choose from the time options.

To set your Alen air purifier to your desired timeframe, click on the timer button. Keep clicking on the timer button until the time you want to set your air purifier on is displayed. As you click on it, the time will change while indicating with the light on top of the timer button.

Some Alen models like 45i however do not have a timer option but rather the Automatic Mode which sets the speed for optimal performance.

STEP NINE: Setting up the lock.

On some Alen air purifier models, a lock is also provided.

The lock feature is there to primarily keep both children and the device safe. The models with the lock include Alen 45i, 75i, Flex, and Alen FIT50.

When the lock is activated you will not be able to control or change anything on the control panel until you unlock it. To activate and deactivate the lock feature on your Alen air purifier, follow the following steps.

  • Turn on the air purifier.
  • Press and hold the LOCK button for 3 seconds to activate the lock.
  • Press and hold the LOCK button for 3 seconds to unlock the control panel.

STEP TEN: Turn it off.

After using your Alen air purifier, you might need to turn it off, especially if you want to change the filters, perform any repairs or leave the house.

To turn it off, simply press the power button.

Conclusion.

Alen Air purifiers are efficient air purifiers that help in keeping the air quality of your home at par by removing the contaminants in the air making it healthier to breathe. However, without regular maintenance such as changing filters and resetting the filter light indicator the devices will not be able to clean the air as needed.
