Hathaspace Air Purifier Is Beeping: What It Means And How To Fix It

A beeping Hathaspace air purifier needs resetting or a filter replacement. To reset the unit, press and hold theTIMER” and “AUTO” buttons at the same time for 3 seconds. Filters should be replaced every 3000 hours (of usage).

Hathaspace Air purifiers purify the air making it healthier to breathe indoors. A beeping Hathaspace air purifier is an indicator that there’s a problem, which can mean you’re breathing contaminated or unhealthy air if it’s not fixed quickly.

In this guide, we explain why your Hathaspace air purifier is beeping (yes, there are different reasons!) and how to stop it from beeping. We also provide detailed steps on how to clean your Hathaspace air purifier.

Why Hathaspace Air Purifiers beep

While most Hathaspace air purifiers beep at some point, the Hathaspace HSP001 unit is the exception and will not make a beeping sound.

But all other models, like the Hathaspace Smart True Air Purifier 2.0 will beep because of the following reasons.

1. Filter Needs Replacing

The beeping that you hear from your Hathaspace air purifier is a reminder that the filter needs replacing. It occurs every 3000 hours of use.

This is a general recommendation and can change depending on the air quality in your home.

2. Filter Replacement Unit Needs Resetting

If the unit isn’t reset properly after replacing the filter it can also make the Hathaspace air purifier beep.

Resetting the unit is essential. First of all it won’t remind you when to replace the filter again, but more importantly it will just keep beeping even after you’ve replaced the filter.

How to stop Hathaspace air purifiers from Beeping

You can stop your Hathaspace purifier from beeping by:

1. Changing the Filter

You’ll have to change the filter after every 3000 hours (about every 6 months) of operation or when you hear the beeping sound.

For filter replacement, you can follow the steps given below.

  1. Unplug the air purifier.
  2. Open the front plate.
    • Pull it towards you from its base.
    • A soft pull will let it come out as it uses magnets.
    • As you remove the front plate, you’ll be able to see the filters.
  3. You’ll have to remove the pre-filter first.
    • Grab the center holders and pull it out gently.
  4. To remove composite filters (the filters that need replacing), spot little white tabs on top, hold them, and lightly pull them towards yourself.
  5. All of the composite filters come in one unit.
    • To replace this unit, get a new one (Amazon link) and remove its packaging film before installation.
  6. Install the new filters.
    • Place the composite filter inside the purifier with white tabs facing you.
    • As soon as the first filter is set in the device, install the washable pre-filter by fitting its plastic pegs correctly in the corresponding slots.
  7. Put the front plate back by gently attaching the bottom side first and then slowly letting the magnets connect from the top. These magnets will secure the front plate well.
  8. Once the front plate is firmly attached, your air purifier is ready to be used.

2. Recharging the Activated Carbon Filters in Direct Sunlight

You can recharge the Hathaspace air purifier’s filter in direct sunlight to see if it helps fix the beeping issue.

Recharging here refers to exposing the activated carbon filters to direct sunlight.

UV rays and the increased temperature will remove some contaminants such as gases, odors, and bacteria from the activated carbon filter through a process called sunlight-driven desorption.

Not all contaminants can be removed this way, so you’ll still need to replace the filter after approximately 6 months, but it can extend the lifespan of the Hathaspace filters.

Hathaspace recommends placing the filters in direct sunlight every two months.

Here are the steps to recharge Hathaspace filters:

  • Remove the filter from the air purifier.
  • Place it in a dry place (activated carbon side up) with direct sunlight for 15-30 minutes.
  • After some time, wipe the composite filter with a soft dry cloth.
  • Wash the pre-filter and thoroughly dry it using a clean cloth
  • Mount this filter into the air purifier and see if it fixes the issue. If there’s constant beeping, it means that your filter has expired and immediately needs replacement.

3. Reset the Filter Replacement Unit

Resetting the filter replacement unit can fix the beeping problem of your Hathaspace air purifier.

Here’s how you do it:

  • You’ll see the AUTO AND TIMER button blinking when the filter replacement timer needs to reset.
  • Check if the TIMER and AUTO buttons are blue; if not, press each one to turn them blue.
  • Then press and hold the AUTO and TIMER buttons simultaneously and wait for 3 seconds until the beeping stops. (For the HSP003 you will need to press the SLEEP and TIMER buttons or the FILTER button for 3 seconds on the HSE1500)
  • Your filter replacement unit is now reset for another 3000 hours.
  • Once you have reset the filter replacement unit, it will stop beeping.

How to clean a Hathaspace Air Purifier

Hathaspace air purifiers require little to no maintenance so there’s no need to deep clean the purifier.

But a gentle no-fuss clean done on a regular basis can help improve the lifespan of your filters, and ultimately of your purifier.

Here’s a step-by-step guide on cleaning Hathaspace air purifiers for optimum performance:

  • Unplug the power cord.
  • Use a dry cloth to clean the surface of air purifiers.
  • Open the magnetic front of the unit.
  • Remove the washable pre-filter; it just pops open.
    • You should aim to wash it every 3-4 weeks.
    • Just run this under the tap.
    • You can also use a soft brush for cleaning.
    • This will remove the large pieces of dust and pet hair trapped in the pre-filter.
  • Don’t use organic solvents or alcohol for cleaning the device.
  • The robust inner filters can’t be cleaned using water.
    • You can use a keyboard duster to gently remove any larger debris.
  • Once the air purifier filters are free of large particles and dust they are ready to be reinstalled and used again.

How long Hathaspace filters last

HATHASPACE air filters last 4-6 months on average.

The life of filters depends upon the air quality in your home, the number of particles collected in the filter, and how often you use the purifier.

The filter will need to be changed more often if there is poor air quality combined or the air purifier is run nearly continuously.
