7 Reasons Why Your Pure Enrichment Humidifier Is Not Working

A Pure Enrichment Humidifier can stop working because of a blocked valve, a stuck float, or low water in the reservoir. A dirty ultrasonic disc, faulty humidistat or improperly sealed or seated tank can also stop a Pure Enrichment Humidifier from working properly.

Pure Enrichment are one of the go-to brands for premium quality humidifiers. But, if yours isn’t working as it should, there can be a number of technical and mechanical reasons for it. Fortunately, they’re easily fixed.

In this troubleshooting guide, we take a close look at the reasons why a Pure Enrichment humidifier stops working. We give easy troubleshooting tips to steps to help you fix your problem.

How to fix a Pure Enrichment Humidifier

There are three basic types of Pure Enrichment Humidifiers and the reasons why they stop working are mostly the same between them:

  1. Cool Mist Humidifier
  2. Warm Mist Humidifier
  3. Ultrasonic

There are ten different models of warm and cool mist Pure Enrichment Humidifier, this post is applicable to these humidifiers:

  • MistAire Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier
  • MistAire Studio Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier
  • Pure Enrichment MistAire Silver Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier
  • Pure Enrichment HUME XL Pro Warm and Cool Mist Humidifier
  • Pure Enrichment PureSpa XL – 2L Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier
  • Pure Enrichment HUME Max – Top Fill Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier
  • HUME Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier

  • Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier
  • Pure Enrichment HumeXL Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier

Note: The red light on your Pure Enrichment Humidifier usually means there is low water in the reservoir. A dirty atomizer, stuck float, extremely high levels of moisture and improper rotation of fan can also cause the red light to turn on.

The LED illuminating red means it has stopped working. This almost always happens because of low or no water in the reservoir. But, if the tank is full, check the fan, atomizer, and moisture levels to be sure.

A Pure Enrichment humidifier can also stop working because of one of these reasons, even if its red light hasn’t turned on:

1. Low Water

Okay, let’s get the easy one out of the way first. All Pure Enrichment humidifiers have a tank that stores water.

When it’s turned on, the fan rotates, drawing the surrounding dry air into the system. As the air passes through, some of the water from the reservoir evaporates into it. This humidified air is then dispensed into your room.

If the tank runs out of water, it will stop working automatically and won’t produce any water vapor, and the incoming dry air will be emitted, as is, back into the room.

Or in some cases the humidifier will simply turn off. The red light will also be on if your water level is low.

Solution:

A Pure Enrichment Humidifier will indicate a low water level in the tank with a red light. Once you refill the tank, the machine will start working normally again.

Usually, you need to refill the tank every 24 hours. But this time span can vary depending on the capacity of the tank.

Some Pure Enrichment Humidifiers such as HumeXL Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier can last 50 hours. Refer to the user manual and refill the tank following the instructed time period.

To refill the Pure Enrichment Humidifier, unplug it and fill demineralized water in the tank until it is three-quarters full.

  • Turn the humidifier off
  • Move the tank located on top of the machine and fill with water up to three-quarters of the total capacity
  • Next, fill up to two inches of the base with water
  • Replace tank

2. Blocked valve or water pad

Minerals from the tank water deposit inside the tank and vaporizing system (outlet) and form a hard crust over time throughout the unit. This clogging stops the humidifier from working efficiently.

The environmental dust and pollution also make their way into the machine. If the humidifier isn’t cleaned regularly, this debris can also cause clogging.

Solution:

Check the system for blockage or a hardened crust that needs to be removed and clean the unit. Clean all the parts of the humidifier thoroughly at least once a week:

To open your Pure Enrichment Humidifier, locate the spring at the bottom of the tank and press it down. Unscrew the cap and then detach the water pad, evaporation pad and switch.

To clean the humidifier, turn it off and empty its reservoir. Separate all the parts and use a small cloth or soft brush to clean off the dirt:

  • Remove the tank lid and detach all the removable parts.
  • Use a dry cloth to clean the wires, fan, water and evaporation pad.
  • Prepare a vinegar solution in distilled water (1 cup vinegar in 1 cup water) and rinse the tank with it.
  • Drain it out and then use a cloth to clear debris from the reservoir.
  • Put the system together once dry.

You can also prevent these blockages by only using distilled, demineralized water in the tank.

3. Stuck Float

To detect water levels in the tank, Pure Enrichment humidifiers have a built-in float system. The system has an activation point, when the water level falls below this point, the machine turns off automatically.

For the float system to regulate this automatic on/off function of the humidifier it stays at or above the activation point till enough water is in the tank. As soon as the tank runs low or out of the water, the float drops below the activation point, and the system stops.

After refilling the tank, it repositions itself for the humidifier to start working again.

Sometimes because of mechanical errors or mineral deposits, the float remains stuck below the activation point even though the tank has enough water. In this case, the humidifier will display a red light and won’t work.

Solution:

Disassemble your humidifier then clean any dust or debris with a cloth or soft brush. Gently move the float with your hand, positioning it at the level of activation.

If there are any hard mineral deposits on the float you may need to use a vinegar solution to remove them.

If the humidifier doesn’t start working, replace the float switch.

4. Improperly Sealed Tank

Pure Enrichment humidifiers will stop working if the tank is leaking or not properly seated.

Any holes in the reservoir are usually obvious as they allow water to leak out and prevent the humidifier from working.

But a tank may also appear to be leaking, but is simply not seated properly.

Solution:

To fix an improperly seated tank, remove it and simply correctly reinstall it.

If you notice leaks in the new humidifier, it’s probably due to an incorrectly sealed tank. You can call the customer service and ask for a replacement.

If a small hole somehow forms in a used humidifier, shut the water supply and call a service provider. Depending on the size of the hole, you may or may not need to replace the tank.

5. Dirty Ultrasonic Disc or Atomizer

Ultrasonic Pure Enrichment Humidifiers have a disc that vibrates against water. The vibration produces mist which is cold or warm depending on the model.

If this ultrasonic diaphragm or the atomizer is dirty, it stops the humidifier from working properly.

Solution:

Cleaning the humidifier at least once a week is an important part of its maintenance. Unplug the machine and dismantle the entire system.

Empty all water from the unit base and tank.

Clean the ultrasonic disc on the inside center of the base unit, by using the enclosed cleaning brush ONLY to gently clean disk and remove any dust, debris, build-up or mineral deposits.

Reassemble and then turn the humidifier on.

6. Faulty Humidistat

Even though the humidifier is supposed to humidify your environment, relative humidity should ideally not exceed 50%.

This is why humidifiers have a humidistat that senses and regulates relative humidity.

The humidistat plays an important role in keeping humidity levels in check. Any defect in it can interfere with the normal working of the appliance. If you notice an abrupt decrease or increase in humidification, a faulty humidistat is likely the cause.

You can connect a multimeter (if you have one) to the system and supply varying voltages. If the ohm-meter reads correctly, you just need to reset your humidistat. But if the ohm-meter reads zero constantly, your humidistat isn’t working.

Solution:

If your Pure Enrichment Humidifier humidistat is defective, you’ll need to replace it to get the appliance to work again.

However, purchasing a new humidifier will probably prove to be more cost effective than trying to replace the humidistat.

7. Incorrect Placement of Humidifier

Where you place a humidifier also determines its efficiency. If placed in a hidden space, or at an angled surface, it won’t work efficiently.

Solution:

Ideally, humidifiers should sit at an elevated but flat surface. Since there is a chance of leakage, avoid placing it on wooden surfaces to prevent damage.

How to turn on a Pure Enrichment Humidifier

To turn a Pure Enrichment Humidifier on, connect it to a power supply and press the power button. This applies to all versions of Pure Enrichment Humidifier. After connecting to the power supply, humidifiers can take up to 10-15 minutes to emit moisture.

If the machine doesn’t start, refill the tank.

  • Check if the appliance is plugged in correctly and if other devices are working well in the power output.
  • Refill the water tank if it’s low on water or empty.
  • Check for any defect in the float or switch if it’s not turning on.
  • Restart the humidistat.
  • Clean the system in case of blockage.
